Mjolnir

Mjolnir is an HPC cluster funded by a consortium of principal investigators (PIs) affiliated with the Globe Institute at the University of Copenhagen. The cluster is housed at UCPH and integrated into its IT infrastructure. The access to Mjolnir is restricted to those UCPH employees or external collaborators that are associated with the consortium.

Mjölnir (or Mjolnir for non-Danish keyboards) is the name for the legendary hammer wielded by the Norse god Thor, mentioned in Norse mythology. It serves not only as a formidable weapon but also as a divine tool for bestowing blessings. By analogy, we chose "Mjolnir" as the name of our HPC cluster because we had the intention of utilizing its capabilities to process vast amounts of big data and perform powerful data analysis, no matter how large the research projects we work with are.

Mjolnir provides an extensive and continually expanding collection of software and scientific tools, with over 1,050 currently installed and accessible. If users will need specific tools or databases not yet present on Mjolnir, we will strive to accommodate their requests.
